The History of Florence

Founded in 1866, Florence was a farming and ranching settlement on the Gila River where trade routes and stage lines met. The town did not experience a boom until a nearby silver strike in 1875 turned it into a hub of commerce and wild west excitement. Florence was established as the county seat of Pinal County as it is to this day. With a unique historic district and new developments, Florence has something to offer everyone—businesses and families alike.
