How It Works.

*Limitations
Even if enrolled in the Guaranteed Donor Program, certain situations SHALL result in a DENIAL of a donor.
Death occurs outside Research For Life’s service area (Arizona and Southern California excluding some rural areas).
Failure to notify Research For Life within 48 hours of death or improper refrigeration of remains by a third party.
State of emergency governmental/regulatory restrictions, natural disasters, including pandemics, and epidemics.
Failure of Next of Kin or Authorized Agent to assist with information or questionnaire as required by RFL, AATB, and/or
any relevant government agency(s).
Mission
At Research for Life, we understand the profound trust placed in us following the loss of a loved one.
Our mission is to honor that trust by advancing science through ethical donation practices. Dissection is
integral to our process, allowing us to provide high-quality tissue specimens to support medical
education and research. We treat every donor with the utmost dignity and respect, giving hope for the
future by enabling medical breakthroughs that improve lives. Through open and ethical practices, we
support donors, their families, and medical professionals to advance medicine for future generations.

No-Cost Program – Our no-cost program includes cremation and the option for cremains to be returned, no
returned, or respectfully scattered at sea. All donor transportation costs are included, provided Research for Life
is contacted first to make transport arrangements.
High Acceptance Rate – Most people qualify, with exceptions such as incurable or antibiotic-resistant
communicable diseases, extremely high or low BMI, and cases without an available next of kin or authorized
representative.
Guaranteed Donor Program – Research For Life will honor the donation agreement after being accepted into our
program, even if your health should change. (See Limitation below*)
Ashes Options – Three options can be chosen: Return in 4-6 weeks (times can vary,) Spread at Sea (happens once a
year in the Pacific Ocean. Certificate with coordinates included,) and No Return.
Shared Donation with Transplant Organizations – We collaborate with transplant organizations to facilitate shared
donations, ensuring the donor’s contribution is placed where it can have the greatest impact.
24/7 Availability – We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to assist regardless of when the death occurs.
Compassionate Care – We prioritize providing personalized support, including live assistance with a dedicated
team member who will address your questions, concerns, and needs with empathy and understanding.
Licensed and Accredited – We are licensed by the states of Arizona and New York and accredited by the American
Association of Tissue Banks (AATB). This ensures we meet the highest industry standards, competence, and
professionalism.
