AZ Humanities Speaking Engagements
Jim Turner – “The Shadow Catchers: 150 Years of Arizona Photography” – Saturday, January 4th from 11:00 AM – noon

FOr more than a century and a half some of the world’s best photographers focused their lenses on Arizona. In addition to the renowned Edward S Curtis, Kate Cory lived with the Hop and presented them in photographs and on canvas, while C.S. Fly gave us the famous Geronimo pictures. In the 20th century Josef Muench’s pictures depicted Navajo and Hopi culture, and Ansel Adams glorified Arizona’s skies. canyons and and mesas. This presentations powerful images make the land and its people come alive.

5 Arizona Speaks representatives will be presenting their programs at McFarland State Historic Park (24 W Ruggles Street, Florence, AZ 85132 – (520) 868-4496. Admission is FREE. Light refreshments will be provided in the courtyard.
